This presentation will provide speech-language pathologists (SLPs) with strategies to support speech-language pathology assistants (SLPAs) and clinical fellows (CFs) in conducting SGD trials, educating families, and successfully navigating the funding process. Disclosure: This course will discuss funding a device through AbleNet. Other funding processes will not be discussed.

Kara is a pediatric SLP in Central Florida with over 14 years of experience including school-based and outpatient clinic based services. Primarily working with autistic children and their families, Kara has made it a focus of her CEUs and personal learning to improve her ability to support her patients' language development and communication using AAC. While she works primarily with patients using direct select, Kara also has experience implementing light tech supports as well as funding eye gaze devices. Kara has worked independently with her own patients and in conjunction with SLPA's and CF's in Florida to fund over 50 QuickTalker Freestyles across 2 clinics an provides ongoing support to staff and families.
