In this session, participants reviewed the Department of Education's guide on assistive technology myths and facts. Participants identified these myths and facts and learned how to leverage to advocate for their students and help them become future self-advocates.

Sayard is a speech language pathologist and an assistive technology professional. Her work spans from directly building capacity with a large cooperative south of Chicago (SWCCCASE) to adjunct instructing in the University of Illinois at Chicago AT Certificate Program as well as the College of DuPage SLPA Program. She has spoken at many conferences locally and nationally on topics of AAC and Assistive technology. Her main interests are in transition, processes in AT, adoption of technologies, and capacity building. Sayard is enjoying the summer with her husband and two children while training for her first marathon (Chicago, 2024!) Sayard is an Adjunct Instructor - University of Illinois AT Certificate Program.
